St. Paul, Minn. (November, 2012)—Citing its mandate to continue the initiatives started in 2012, members of the AACC International (AACCI) 2012–2013 Board of Directors were officially installed at the association’s annual meeting, held September 30–October 3, 2012, in Hollywood, Florida.

Newly appointed AACCI President David Hahn, who is currently a consultant for Doherty Food Advisory, Thomasville, Georgia, said he’s excited to be leading the association during such a significant time in its history, and he feels fortunate to be doing so with the support of a strong and experienced board of directors.

In April of this year, AACCI launched a new website along with CFW Plexus, an online publication that aggregates the association’s science and delivers it in a variety of formats, including webcasts. Other changes at the association include the appointment of Craig Morris as editor-in-chief of Cereal Chemistry, AACCI’s signature publication. Morris will oversee the expansion of Cereal Chemistry’s scope along with the elimination of page charges, building on the momentum of the journal’s rising ISI® impact factor.

Hahn said these are just the beginning of a series of planned innovations at the association, which has a long tradition of serving as a leading resource on grain-based science. “With a growing world population in need of healthy, sustainably produced food, cereal grain science is becoming increasingly important,” said Hahn. “We’re focused on leveraging our existing resources and developing new ones in order to meet the growing interest in the science our members produce.”

Hahn’s fellow 2012–2013 board members include Jan Delcour, president-elect. Delcour is cofounder of Fugeia Nutrition Sciences and is the W.K. Kellogg Chair in Cereal Science and Nutrition at KU Leuven. Perry Ng, director, is a professor of cereal science at Michigan State University. Jaan Perten, director, is chair of the Harald Perten Foundation Board at Perten Instruments. Dave Braun, treasurer-elect, is vice president of sales at The Mennel Milling Company. Returning members of the board include Chair Debi Rogers, Treasurer Laura Hansen, and Directors Arthur Bettge, Bruce Hamaker, Marta S. Izydorczyk, and Don Sullins.
